The Darrell H. Reneker Scholarship in Polymer Science and Engineering

Darrell H. Reneker, Emeritus Professor of Polymer Science at the University of Akron, died October 17, 2021, after a distinguished career of more than 60 years. Darrell developed the method of electrospinning polymers, now used world-wide; he is known as the “Father of Electrospinning”.   He was an exemplary mentor to students and colleagues of all ages.  The Darrell H. Reneker Scholarship in Polymer Science and Polymer Engineering will be awarded to students in that field at the University of Akron.  The scholarship was initiated by the Akron Physics Club, of which Dr. Reneker was vice-chair, and the Akron Council of Engineering and Scientific Societies. 

For those who wish to contribute, donations may be sent to the Darrell H. Reneker Scholarship Fund, ACESS,  P.O. Box 2993, Akron OH 44309 with checks payable to Akron Council of Engineering and Scientific Societies (ACESS) for “Reneker Scholarship.” ACESS is a 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation and will acknowledge each donation.
